Workshop A: Mythbusting: Defeating Talking Head Videos and Four Other Mythical Video Villans
We all know that the world of communications is constantly changing. Endless blasts of information from ever-changing channels have obliterated the attention spans - or have they? Rumors about shorter attention spans and harder to reach audiences abound, meanwhile, one method of communication hasn't evolved since the earliest days of video - the infamously deplorable "talking head" video, for example. It just won't go away, even though we all know staring at someone's head for three minutes straight is one of the worst ways to engage a viewer.

Leave this workshop equipped with the knowledge and tools you need to challenge myths and create engaging and informative videos, including:
  • The real reason talking head videos suck in the first place
  • How to rethink your messaging to avoid getting sucked into the talking head or other video traps
  • How to evaluate if/when video
  • Practical examples and hands-on practice of alternative ways to make a video

Workshop B: Podcasting to the Mobile Workforce of the Future (Today!)
Podcasting is hardly new, but even so, it seems to be the latest shiny object for many communications teams seeking to reach employees – especially itinerant sales teams – in novel and compelling ways. What’s more, brand after brand have launched or sponsored podcasts intended to reach customers.

But should you podcast? Hello? Is anybody listening?

In this workshop, we’ll walk through a simple diagnostic to evaluate how podcasting might work for you. This session will include an audience assessment, technology platform discussion, recording technology discussion, content-ideation-speed-round, and establishing KPIs and priorities.

Hear real examples of six different approaches and come to understand what will work best for you, including how to:

  • Complete the podcast-or-not determination worksheet
  • Align your goals with your audience for podcasting programs
  • Identify resources for podcast – in-house, outsource, or split the difference?

Workshop C: Strategic Internal Communications Masterclass
Energize your internal communications using creative tactics, channels and measurement strategies to help your organisation to achieve its goals and objectives.

Are you tired of being a private publisher? Do you find yourself writing mostly reactive stories? Do you spend your time putting out fires instead of changing behavior? Do you have too many vehicles with no idea of what’s working and what’s not? Then this interactive workshop is designed for you!

The old corporate way of communicating just doesn’t work anymore. Boring, stiff, jargon-filled corporate stories won’t cut it. You’ve got to find a way to grab your audiences’ attention. You’ve got to take the ‘corporate’ out of corporate communication and replace it with ‘creative.’

Dive in with your peers as you design a plan for strategic creative communications, including how to:

  • Take those tired, old stories and flip them upside down — so that people pay attention to them. Make the important interesting
  • Start using the new tools available to communicators — including social media and multimedia channels
  • Find and tell the kinds of stories that will cut through the information clutter that is so rampant in your organization
  • Develop the right research strategy so you know what works and what doesn’t work
  • Understand the basics of ‘Guerrilla Research’ so that you constantly have a read on your audiences’ needs
